Thirty attended the spring meeting held at Lake Acworth on
March 22. I estimate there were twenty GCA members and ten prospective members
that shared good food and an interest in paddling. The cool windy weather kept
most from venturing onto the lake. However, after lunch a group went to the
metro Hooch for an afternoon on the water.
Thanks to all members who made the day a success and special
thanks to Kate Wilkerson and Lamar Phillips. Kate brought the GCA banner and
picnic supplies and Lamar made a poster with pictures from a variety of GCA
events. Lamar also helped cook hamburgers and hotdogs. A non-member commented
to me after lunch that he appreciated all the friendly people that made him
feel welcome.
