Team River Runner is a national non-profit organization (503c), run exclusively by volunteers. We partner up with VA Hospitals and Wounded Warrior units, to put disabled veterans in a kayak or canoe, and get them kayaking or paddling in lakes, rivers, or the ocean. Paddle sports provide a great core workout while improving motor function and helping to rehabilitate the mental wounds that come with war.
With Team River Runner’s share of the proceeds from the GCA Christmas raffle (Thank You GCA and everyone who bought tickets) and donations from private sponsors we will be sending two instructors to the Adaptive Paddling Workshop in Charleston, SC in April to get their Adaptive Paddling ACA Endorsement and have covered the cost of the 10 weeks of Pool Sessions at the North Georgia University in Dahlonega.

The pool sessions will start Friday 2/15 and run for 10 weeks from 7pm to 9pm.
Over the course of the 10 weeks we will be asking for volunteers to come and help the instructors work with the vets (team members), we will be working on getting them comfortable in and with the boat, basic strokes, boat control and roll practice. GCA members are always welcome to come to the sessions and volunteer, if we don’t need you as a volunteer you are welcome to use the opportunity to get some roll practice for yourself.
As we are just starting up we have a limited supply of equipment so will be begging, borrowing but not stealing, stuff!!!
If you have any paddling equipment lying around that could do with a good home…..we have a very good home for it, just let me know. (Minicell and foam blocks are always needed)
Any and all donations to Team River Runner Atlanta are welcome and are fully Tax Deductible.
If you are making a donation through the website just make sure to add a note that it is for TRR Atlanta.
If you have any questions about TRR Atlanta or would like to have your name added to the volunteer list please touch base with me. This is a fun and very rewarding way to say Thank You to our Veterans.
Thank you and I look forward to seeing you at a TRR Atlanta event.
