On May 16-18, the Georgia Conservancy, with the help of the Georgia Canoeing Association, led a 65-person paddling adventure on one of Georgia’s most beautiful and ecologically-diverse rivers – the Ogeechee!
The weekend concluded with a Sunday ferry ride to Ossabaw Island for an afternoon tour of this incredible Georgia barrier island.
Our lodging for the weekend was at beautiful Fort McAllister State Park!
Thanks to Georgia Canoeing Association, Southeast Adventure Outfitters, Bull River Cruises, Fox Bros Bar-B-Q, Sweet Grass Dairy, Pie Shop, SweetWater Brewing Company and Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites!
Sweet! I’m really looking forward to the next Heartland Paddle in the series in GA. GCA will sponsor with safety boaters, leads and sweeps. June 27-29 we will be in Hazlehurst, GA for the “Three Rivers” adventure.
We will be paddling the Ocmulgee River into the convergence with the Oconee River, where the Altamaha River is formed. This is one of my all time favorite flatwater paddles. Registration and details are at
