About Jeff West:
Jeff has taught kayaking skills to over 5,000 enthusiasts during the past 15 years. He enjoys all levels of coaching and finds joy working with all paddlers from funyakers to advanced kayakers. He has made a career of kayaking and loves helping paddlers reach their goals.
Competitively, Jeff has reached the finals of the U.S. Team Trials twice, placed in the top ten of the Green Narrows Race four times and won the TVF Creeking competition four times. He has paddled a vertical mile per day on six separate creeks and has paddled the Grand Canyon of the Stikine twice.
He was a member of Team Perception and designed the Lucid. He has authored several articles appearing in paddling magazines. These include: “Whitewater paddling in Puerto Rico” featured in Paddler, “Grand Canyon Express” featured in American Whitewater, “Who Needs Film?” featured in American Whitewater, “Reflections on Our Losses” featured in LVM’s Zine, and “For the Love of It” and “The Green Mile” featured in American Whitewater.
He currently paddles for Jackson Kayak and recently wrote the “Ocoee Guidebook and Training Manual.”
Finally, Jeff lives an earth friendly life. His car gets 30 mpg. His home averages $35 per month in utilities. He recycles most everything and tries to leave as small a footprint as possible.
