Trip Coordinator – Matt Henry

This is part 1 of a 3 trip series consisting of the Nantahala (Class 2-3), the Pigeon (Class 2-3+) and finally Ocoee Lite (Class 3/3+, below Slice N Dice to GoForth Creek).  You must contact Matt prior to your RSVP.  If you have not, you are Not on the trip and Should Not RSVP.  No last minute walk ups allowed.  8 Participants only.

The intent of this trip is for people interested in attending either the Pigeon Trip or Ocoee Lite trip!  Come paddle with me, try a few moves and show that you’re ready, or decide maybe you’re not.  I will discuss the skills you need and why they will help you gauge if you want to go for it or not!

We will paddle the Nantahala River from Patton’s Run down to the takeout, including Nantahala Falls.  See Prerequisites.

  • You should be comfortable running the Nanthala River including the ability to run Nantahala Falls most of the time without flipping (the falls get us all now and then).
  • Be interested in trying moves in class 2 current during the trip.  How well you do on the trip will help us determine who can qualify for the next trip in the series.

I’ll pick dates for the other two trips and get the info to you sometime after the first trip is done.  Intention is to make one trip per month in the series giving people time to brush up on skills before the next trip.
