THE PADDLE:
This is a beautiful, hidden gem and class I & II section of the Etowah River, about a 7.5-mile paddle. We will be taking our time, playing in the rapids and taking our lunch break at Etowah Falls, which can be portaged if you do not want to run the falls (Class IV). You need to have some class I & II river paddling experience in a kayak or canoe to join us. I’m an experienced paddler myself and we paddle in groups for safety reasons but you should always be prepared to take care of yourself.

THE SHUTTLE:
We’ll be doing our own shuttle when we arrive and arrangements will be made at that time.
THE WEATHER:
This will be a rain or shine event, with the exception of thunderstorms or severe weather and or flashflood warnings, which may result in rescheduling this event.
WHERE WE’LL MEET:
I will be providing that information to all attendees via email before the date approaches.
PLEASE NOTE:
I’ll be monitoring the river water level and if the water level drops below a 200 CFS, or gets to a level that I consider too high, we will go with a backup plan, which may include The Cartecay River, The Upper Toccoa River or The Chattooga (Section II), to be determined if needed.
THINGS TO BRING:
• A good attitude.
• A PFD is required and must be worn at all times.
• A Helmet is required for all paddlers and a spray-skirt for Sit-In-Kayaks.
• Bring a lunch or snacks and beverage for our lunch break.
• Drinking water or something to drink to stay hydrated. NO GLASS allowed on the river and no adult beverages are allowed.

Use your best judgment as it pertains to your own health concerns because ultimately the responsibility for your safety lies solely with you.
