About this event:
SAVE THE HEMLOCKS
The Georgia Canoeing Association is partnering with Save Georgia’s Hemlocks to treat the hemlocks on Georgia DNR land on the Cartecay River. We need to train at least ten and hopefully 20 people to lead the treatment effort for small groups of three or four that will spread out down the river to administer treatment. You do not have to be comfortable leading a paddle trip on the Cartecay to be a treatment leader. We will have experienced paddlers to handle that task.
Training will take place at Young Harris College on Sunday, February 2, 2020 from 2:00 to 4:00. We will meet at the Maxwell Center for ground school, then head out on campus to see what an infected hemlock looks like and to practice treating. See the map of the Maxwell Center posted below. If you can attend please RSVP on the GCA website.
I look forward to seeing you then and there.

I can help you on land but not in a boat . Count me in for whatever else you need
I’m very interested. However, the time states 2-4pm on Superbowl Sunday. Is this the only time and date offered? No way I’ll make it from Young Harris to Atlanta and get to a party in time.
Really bummed.
I am a member of SGH and a trained treatment facilitator, also have 2 canoes, will travel.
I look forward to assisting on this project as needed.
