About this event:
Cherokee Smoky Mountain Weekend – March 23 & 24, 2019.
Saturday – Oconaluftee River, class I-II (III) intermediate. Meet at 10:30 a.m. at Great Smoky Mountains National Park Oconaluftee Visitors Center (Pioneer Village) on US Hwy. 441 in Cherokee.
Sunday – Raven Fork (class II-III, advanced intermediate). Meet at Oconaluftee Visitors Center at 10:00 am.
This was a regular annual GCA event from 1980-1999, after which the Cherokee Reservation authorities closed to paddlers most of the portions of these two streams within the Quala Reservation. They are now open again. You can register for either or both of these trips.
Please contact Roger Nott for further details, including camping and motel resources. Clicking RSVP does not sign you up – you must contact Roger.

Hi Roger,
Amy N and Dave A plan to attend. I sent a text the other day but did not get a reply so hope it is okay! Do you know any campgrounds open nearby?
We’re hoping you both can still come David and Amy.
I am only attending sunday.
Fine. See you then.
