About this event:
Once again we are holding a Columbus GCA Day on March 5th! Just like last time Dan Allison with The Chattahoochee Outdoor Academy & Whitewater Express will be playing host to our event. If you have not checked out what all they have to offer this is a good opportunity. Not only do they offer Whitewater Rafting but they also have a nice outfitter store on the Georgia side right down from the take out. In addition they have a location on the Alabama side just across the bridge.
There will be demo boats provided by Whitewater Express & hotdog cookout! Columbus is a fantastic venue in that it is a nice environment for family members who do not paddle. There are plenty of shops and places to eat all within easy walking distance of the Island.
Keep in mind we will have various flows during the day. This is actually a good thing since it should allow all skill levels to enjoy the river at different levels. Also unlike other venues Columbus has Night Time Boating around Waveshaper & GreatWave! So plan to spend the day!
I look forward to seeing everyone there! Please RSVP for this event so we know what to be prepared for.
Due to very high water levels this event is officially canceled. We will try to reschedule in the Summer when levels are more boater friendly.
At 24kcfs, Columbus Hooch is way out of my league. If it gets down to normal levels by March 5th then I’ll be a Yes
Columbus’ gauge history shows a normal low of 16k for all of Jan and Feb, so I am thinking this run is definitely beyond reach for me. I’m definitely interested in Columbus but I’ll have to wait till later in the year when 1000 cfs is the normal low. So, my Yes RSVP that went to Maybe last week has gone to “Not Now, but I am definitely interested later this year.” Sorry!!
Hope to make this depending on if my son is with me that weekend or not
