About this event:
This Sunday Skills clinic is focused on paddlers that are at an intermediate level that want to work on or improve skills over the winter months? We will be paddling Section 3.5 of the Chattooga. This could very well be a challenging day on the river so if you are coming out please be prepared with solid class II/III skills and a fairly reliable roll.
These skills clinics are not formal classes they are more of a challenge yourself day on the river with friends doing the same. Come out and work on strokes, technical moves on the river?Maybe share something you like to do on the river with the group or ask questions of the group on the best way to run a rapid? If you like just paddle downriver but be ready to wait on those who may want to work the river.
Please understand this is a remote river and given that it is winter you should come dressed for the weather. This means dry suit or dry top and thermal layers. Also lets not forget the normal whitewater paddling gear, including boat, paddle, PFD, helmet, and sprayskirt (if decked boat). If you have not previously paddled this section, please contact me at email@example.com .
Group size on this river is limited by the Forest Service and for that reason we are limiting this day to 12 paddlers.
Sun, January 17th, 10:30 AM (please come early so we can be ready to set shuttle at 11:00)
Meet at the Bull Parking Lot
This is a Class II/III whitewater run, contains one class IV which can easily be portaged.
Please check the GCA calendar the day of the event prior to coming out. Event may be canceled in case of weather or water conditions, or moved to another area river.
