ACA Level 4 Swiftwater Rescue Skills Course Information
This is a special class that is offered to GCA members. It is designed to give you the tools to perform a safe and swift river rescue.
This class will be taught by some of the best in the SWR industry, Sam Fowlkes and Aaron Peeler.
Location will be on the Tuckasegee River near Double Drop rapid.
Camping is available on-site (no drugs or alcohol allowed!). Camping fee included in course fee.
Cost – $225 – must be paid via PayPal by Mar 15th
It is important to note that the class fee is non-refundable as resources and instructors must be put in place well in advance of the class.
If not an ACA member, additional $5 required for ACA event insurance.

Friday 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Saturday 8:30 am – 6:00 pm
Sunday 8:30 am – 5:00 pm
PFD + helmet suitable for whitewater
water footwear (no sandals)
thermal protection – wetsuit or drysuit, (season + personal preference dependent)
2 locking beaners, 1 prussik loop + 1 12’ 1 in webbing
Boat if planning to participate in the boat based rescue module. Camping gear if camping.
Please bring ACA waiver + med form completed in hard copy.
All participants will receive Slim Ray’s book “Swiftwater Rescue for Professionals,” or River Rescue by Bechdel + Ray” 4th edition and various handouts, course certificate and card.
