About this event:
The GCA is offering an OCOEE SKILLS CLINIC.
This will be a one day class on Saturday August 2nd, this clinic will require a $50.00 donation to the GCA. The intent is to involve boaters that are currently paddling the Ocoee and introduce them to moves and features that they may not at this time be comfortable in working. This includes possibly boofing White Face Rock, eddy hopping above Grumpy’s, doing the Walk the Plank move at Gonzo Shoals, catching eddies through Broken Nose & Diamond Splitter, playing in Witches Hole and whatever else participants are interested in working.
As always, everything is “Challenge by Choice” but come prepared to try new things and expand your horizons. Personally I get a lot of pleasure from “working” a river as opposed to just getting down. It is a great opportunity for those looking to move up to the Upper Ocoee, Tellico, Tallulah and Cheoah. “Do the Class 4 moves in a Class 3 environment”.
For logistical as well as safety purposes we are limiting this class to 5 participants. Obviously you will need to have a good roll and working these features is excellent roll practice.
Laura Dillon and I are coordinating this effort. Due to a limited class size, participation will be on a first come basis. Please contact Laura or me before signing up and paying. In an effort to make this a fun day for everyone we will thoroughly vet this group.
Laura is an ACA SWR Instructor & a Level 4 WW Kayak Instructor.
Mike is an ACA Level 5 WW Kayak Instructor.
