Water level 2.01 ft. Paddlers Lisa Haskell, Mike Thompson, and Jim Tebbel.

This is an easy section of the Chattooga. It is a good bit more narrow above the confluence with the North Fork, about the width of the narrower parts of the Cartecay. At this level it is flat, moving current to easy class 1, with two easy class 2 rapids. There are numerous nice spots to surf. The water was very clear and numerous trout were seen. The riverbed is rocky most of the way, with occasional sandy stretches that look like they could have been painted. Trees were across the river at 2 locations, but both had enough clearance to get under easily.

This gorge section has the great Chattooga scenery, yet the put-in and take-out are both easy. Put-in is just below the Overflow Creek bridge, and the takeout is a concrete ramp at the Hwy 28 boater access. This was a PFD for both Mike ad I, while Lisa had run it once when she first started boating. Aside from a couple people fly fishing, we had the river to ourselves. A beautiful day on the river was had by all!
