The Cartecay river is an intermediatelevel river near Ellijay, Ga on Hwy 52. It has multiple unique riverfeatures as well as scenic for most of the paddle. A great river tobring people on that has had some experience on moving water andwants it to step it up a level. This river has two paddle sections,Lower Cartecay Road to Stegall Mill Road (aka Blackberry) and StegallMill Road to DNR. At 2.5′ (290 cfs) Clear Creek Falls has a curler wave at the top that should be avoided. The approach to Mr. Twister is easier because the rocks are submirged, but the hole at the bottom looks BAD. You can run it, but don’t swim it. Set a rope!

The put Stegall Mill Road, but you have to park at DNR. See the outfitter fordirections and shuttle times. Stegall Mill Road has very limitedparking for boaters.
DNR is located at the end of a gravel road that runs by the county prison.
