Insurance will be through the American Canoe Association. Options are to bring your membership number and you are covered or to utilize one of the available options to join the ACA. GCA club members get a discounted price of $30.00 to join ACA. The cost is $40.00 for non GCA members. Option C is to pay the per event fee of $5.00. There is an ACA introductory rate, six months for $15.00 if you have not taken advantage of this in previous years.
GCA will collect pool costs to defray pool rental expenses. Current GCA members will need to pay $6.00 per session and non-GCA members will be asked to pay $9.00 per session. GCA memberships are available for $35.00 and can save a participant as much as $45.00 in pool fees and save $10.00 off on ACA membership for insurance. For current GCA members, ask about the “Full Season” rate. GCA members can prepay $69.00 for all 14 group roll practices January thru April, that’s like $5.00 per session and you pay once and no worries.
The ACA wavier is completed once except for those opting for the event membership which requires a waiver for each group event. The standard short form wavier for the GCA events will be used each week. All attendees need to sign the waiver. Each event requires a person or two to open and close the pool and collect waivers and fees.
Bottom line; You must have an ACA membership to be insured and participate. GCA membership is not required but for most of us keeps our costs favorable and gets you a discount off the regular ACA membership. Non GCA members are absolutely welcome. Helmets, shoes and PFDs are encouraged. Bring cash or checks.
