There is a 12' tall dam with a steep slope that must be portaged on river left. The dam would be hard to miss. It creates a very distinct horizon line across the river. The falling water creates a roar that is unmistakable. ![]() The portage on river left is easy. Just don't miss it! ![]() After this dam, the river does show signs of a mild current with occasional Indian fishing weirs. They don't present any navigation challenges and are suitable for all paddlers. The property owner where we took out is making a bid to be named "Etowah River Access Saint". He has built a pavilion, boat ramp, gravel road, and two swings. Totally amazing that he is so gracious to share this with everyone. If you see trash on his property, please remove it.
