Greetings all - I'm new to kayaying and need help/advice as far as what equipment I need to purchase in order to operate safely in up to Class III rivers. I have obtained a permit (pending payment) for an overnight paddling trip in the Okefenokee Swamp.nbsp; The trip will depart Friday, April 2 at 9:00am from the Suwannee Canal (East entrance, near Folkston), and return the following day.nbsp; It's a 15 mile round trip not counting any exploration.nbsp; The camping is primitive, all water must be carried in or purified and all waste must be carried out.nbsp

Discussion - Swimming Pool Practice
Hi all,
I am a new beginning in kayaking, and I am actively seeking a safe place to practice. I have been practicing at Stone Mountain lake, and I found the water to be too cold.
So I am looking for a warm swimming pool to practice my kayaking skill like bracing, roll etc...
Does anyone know where is a good place to do this?

Discussion - Anyone here not into whitewater paddling?
Just wondering if there was anyone else here who isn't into tackling the whitewater rivers of north GA...but prefers the lazy, slower rivers of south GA?
It seems that most on here are into paddling for the thrill of riding the rapids and stuff, whereas I prefer an easy float downstream looking for wildlife around each corner and just relaxing away from the hustle and bustle.
If I'm not alone, let me know.nbsp; Never hurts to find others with similar interest.

We put on at Lower Cartecay Road about 1 PM. The rain that graced North Georgia for two days had just stopped and the sun broke through the clouds. The river was at a great level and rising. nbsp;
